Swansea signed Bodde from Dutch club Den Haag

Derby boss Paul Jewell admits he is frustrated by the ongoing saga of trying to sign Swansea's Ferrie Bodde.

Last week the Rams withdrew their offer for the want-away Dutchman saying the Swans had "moved the goalposts".

But Jewell told the BBC on Monday: "We would like to speak to him but until we get permission from Swansea, we won't be able to do that."

Bodde, 26, is with the Swans in Sweden for their pre-season training camp after flying home to Holland first.

The midfielder joined Swansea a year ago from Dutch side ADO Den Haag for �80,000 and was one of the Swans' star performers as they won promotion to the Championship.

But he handed in a transfer request after Derby's interest surfaced earlier this summer.

That was turned down along with two bids from the relegated Premier League side who have now made a third offer.

Jewell added: "The vibes I get every time I pick up the paper is that the player wants to come here.

"If the clubs can't agree a fee or if Swansea have different ideas to the valuation I put on him, then we can't do a deal.

"Ferrie is a player we admire and we've tried and tried and tried, and there's only so much a club can do."

Bodde has publicly stated he wants to join Derby but Rams chairman Adam Pearson last week told the Derby Evening Telegraph: "We have formally withdrawn our offer and will watch the situation.

"It is disappointing because negotiations have been going on for a long time. We felt a deal could be done and the player has said he wants to come to Derby County."

However, it is not the first time Derby have ended their interest.

They did so after having their second bid rejected before coming back with a third bid worth up to �2m.

Should Bodde leave the Liberty Stadium, Den Haag would be entitled to 50 per cent of the transfer fee.
