Greg Taylor debut pleases Darlington boss Mark Cooper
Taylor began his career as a trainee at Northampton
Darlington manager Mark Cooper says he was pleased with the debut of defender Greg Taylor in Tuesday's 3-1 win against Histon at The Arena.
Taylor, 20, joined the Quakers from Kettering on Friday after failing to appear for the Poppies first team since the end of October.
"He did fine. He's not trained and played enough, and he'd had a bit of a virus," Cooper told BBC Tees.
"Once he gets up to speed and match fit, he'll be fine."
Despite the victory, which lifts the Quakers to within eight points of a play-off spot in Blue Square Bet Premier with three games in hand, Cooper was disappointed with his side's first-half display.
"We made a couple of changes tonight and it disrupted us a bit," the former Peterborough boss added.
"I didn't think we were enough of a threat in the first half, I don't think the front two caused enough problems for their centre-backs.
"You can make it as easy or as hard as you want. If you start the game well with a good tempo and get up early on, you could score four or five. If you don't, you'll make a it a long evening.
"That's what happened first half, and definitely when it was 2-1."
