Austin (left) and Terry have 960 career appearances between them
Darlington have signed former Rushden & Diamonds midfielder Paul Terry and veteran ex-Chesterfield defender Kevin Austin on one-year deals.
Terry, 31, arrives after failing to agree a deal at Nene Park while Austin, 37, left Saltergate this summer after two seasons with the Spireites.
"They both offer us experience at Conference level and the Football League," Cooper told the club website.
"They offer us something we didn't have as well as increasing competition."
Terry, brother of England and Chelsea defender John, is a combative midfielder with 400 career appearances and 29 goals to his name with Dagenham, Yeovil, Leyton Orient and Grays, prior to his spell at Rushden.
Trinidad and Tobago international Austin has racked up 560 career matches and scored six goals, with a string of clubs including Leyton Orient, Barnsley and Bristol Rovers.
