Darlington have signed Everton defender Moses Barnett on a month's loan after Liverpool defender Robbie Threlfall opted not to to join the club.
"I don't want players here who don't want to be here," said new Quakers boss Steve Staunton.
"Moses is a very athletic player, tall and quick," he added.
Meanwhile, veteran striker Noel Whelan, signed on Friday, was substituted with a hamstring injury in Saturday's 2-0 defeat by Dagenham & Redbridge.
The 34-year-old former Middlesbrough and Leeds striker joined the club on non-contract terms on Friday, following a spell at Harrogate Town last season.
Barnett, who joined Everton's academy from Arsenal at the end of the 2006/07 season, has represented England at under-16, under-17 and under-18 levels.
He became a regular fixture in Everton's academy team and was integrated into Andy Holden's reserves side last season.
