Darlington manager Dave Penney has praised stand-in goalkeeper Przemyslaw Kazimierczak for his efforts despite the 2-1 defeat by Wycombe on Tuesday.
Kazimierczak, 21, was drafted in as cover after Andy Oakes injured himself for the season and on-loan Colchester keeper Dean Gerken was recalled.
"He does those kind of saves a lot in training, he can make a big save," he told BBC Tees.
"I'm disappointed we didn't get anything from the game."
The club's administration, coupled with the loss of personnel through injury, has left Darlington with a threadbare squad.
And Penney only had to look at the Wycombe bench in last night's game to realise how difficult it will be to challenge the top clubs in League Two.
"Today, you look at the subs bench and they had striker [Matt] Harrold to bring on, but we didn't really have enough to strengthen and make our team any better," he said.
"That's no disrespect to anybody on the bench but we just didn't have enough options to strengthen things when we needed to and when we could."
