Penney fears his side will face a backlog of games in January
Darlington manager Dave Penney fears his side could be faced with a fixture pile-up as they push for promotion from League Two this season.
The Quakers' game with Rochdale was cancelled due to bad weather last weekend and Penney is conscious further postponements could hamper his side.
"The players are champing at the bit to play," he told BBC Tees.
"We don't want to get too far behind with games and that is a worry for us at the moment."
Weather permitting, Darlington travel to Christie Park to face Morecambe on Saturday, hoping to climb the table after dropping to fourth place following their enforced break.
Penney's side are eight points off the top but have a game in hand and have also had the chance to rest some weary bodies.
"We haven't played for two and a half weeks but we've got a decent squad now and there's not many that aren't fit," Penney added.
"There's only (Polish striker) Pawel Abbott who isn't fit and available for selection.
"It adds to competition which is what we need in the football club and we're more than covered."
