We must find goal touch - Penney

Darlington boss Dave Penney has warned his players that they need to find their scoring touch if they are to escape League Two this season.

With just four goals in six games (and none from the last three), Penney is concerned that a lack of firepower could halt their play-off bid.

"We've stopped scoring," he told BBC Tees. "The league table doesn't lie.

"When we're playing well we're a match for anybody. We need to get everyone back and playing well again."

The Quakers' injury problems have been well documented but Penney is confident some key players are on the comeback trail at this crucial time.

"I was hoping Pawel Abbott and Julian Joachim would be back this weekend," he said.

"The sooner the better because we're quite light on numbers. Hopefully, two or three of them will be back for the penultimate Dagenham game."

Darlington's run of just two points from a possible 18 has seen them fall out of the running as automatic promotion contenders. But, having slumped now to sixth in League Two, victory over eighth-placed Chesterfield on Saturday will at least ensure their place in the play-offs.
