Play-offs now a priority - Penney

Darlington boss Dave Penney has told his players to forget about automatic promotion and concentrate on their League Two play-off challenge.

"We're disappointed that we haven't been able to grab what we had at the beginning of March," he told BBC Tees.

"We've got to get our heads round that, we're not going to get there and we've got to regroup together as a club.

"We as coaching staff have got to prepare players to get enough points for the play-offs."

March has been a tough month for the Quakers, particularly on the injury front and Penney has attributed their dip in form to the loss of key players.

"We had eight games and for whatever reasons, injuries, lack of form we struggled," he said.

"We only had 17 players available for Saturday. We were fully expecting Shaun Reay to be on the bench but he came injured with a tight hamstring.

"Then we had a practice match on Thursday and Clark Keltie twisted his knee. We've got to be careful with the players at the moment."
