New Dagenham & Redbridge signing Graeme Montgomery says he is ready for the challenge of professional football.
The 20-year-old winger was plucked out of the part-time game from Ryman Premier Division Wealdstone to join the the League Two outfit.
"I'm very pleased to have come here, it's a good set-up and somewhere to learn your trade," he told BBC Essex.
"That's what I'm looking to do - get my head down, get my fitness right and you never know who's watching."
Montgomery added: "There's a lot of good young players in this team and this league and I'm just going to try and work and see what happens here."
Montgomery is the latest in a long line of non-league talent to be brought through by the Daggers.
Having given up his regular job with Hertford Council, he said he was glad to have come through the non-league game before getting his break in football.
"I wouldn't have had it any other way, because playing non-league has taught me so much," he explained.
"You have so much more determination coming into something like this, because you're working up.
"Non-league football has prepared me for this and I'm ready to get stuck in."
