Davids began his career at Ajax in 1991, and went on to win a Champions League winners medal in 1995 in a side that included Patrick Kluivert, Edwin van der Sar and Finidi George.
A year after that success, he left the Dutch side to join AC Milan.
But Davids failed to make an impression at the Rossoneri, making just 15 appearances during a year-long stay before completing a £5.3m move to Juventus.
The Surinam-born midfielder went on to make 135 Serie A starts for the Old Lady, but left in 2004 for a stint at Barcelona and then Inter Milan.
He joined Spurs in 2005 where he made 40 league appearances, before returning to Ajax in 2007.
Meanwhile, 17-year-old striker Wilfried Zaha has signed a new four-and-a-half-year contract with the club.
Zaha has scored once in 14 appearances for the Eagles this season.
