Crewe Alexandra's Antoni Sarcevic aims for first start
Sarcevic joined Crewe from non-league Woodley Sports in May 2010
Antoni Sarcevic is keen to make his first start for Crewe after impressing from the bench in recent matches.
The 18-year-old midfielder scored on his debut at Northampton and also came off the bench in the loss at Rotherham.
Sarcevic told BBC Radio Stoke that he is "giving everything" to be involved more regularly at first-team level.
"The manager always comes and watches the reserve games because he tells everyone that if you play well you're going to get a chance," he said.
"I just give everything in training and in reserve games and hopefully he'll keep putting me on."
The Alex face Gillingham on Saturday after suffering two consecutive defeats in League Two, conceding nine goals in the process.
Having been in the automatic promotion places in the middle of January, their recent blip has seen Crewe drop to eighth in the table, seven points behind third-placed Shrewsbury.
"It's stupid little mistakes that have cost us games," added former Woodley Sports midfielder Sarcevic. "That's what we need to work on.
"As soon as we've got that sorted we'll be fine and we'll be up there at the end of the season."
