Defender David Artell has warned Crewe Alexandra their season will drift away unless results improve quickly.

The Alex have slipped out of the play-off positions in League Two having lost three of their last four games.

Artell told BBC Radio Stoke: "We don`t want to be one of those teams with nothing riding on the games so for that to happen we have to win games."

Crewe are among the Football League`s top scorers with 35 goals but have kept only three clean sheets in 17 matches.

Artell, 30, joined the Alex in the summer and has been an ever-present in the league this season, scoring four goals.

"We all know we can all do that little bit more and if we do that I am sure we can get back to the results we were getting last month when we found ourselves in the top seven," he added.

"At the minute we are coming up short, but if we put in the hard work we have the players in our squad that can win games.

"Every single one of us has to do better in our defending and not allow teams to be on the front foot against us."
