Mitchel-King has become the second new signing from non-league Histon

Crewe Alexandra's latest signing Mat Mitchel-King is ready for the challenge of becoming a full-time player.

The 25-year-old former Histon midfielder put pen to paper on a two-year deal at Gresty Road on Monday.

He told BBC Radio Stoke: "As soon as I came to Crewe and met with Gudjon and Steve I had a good feeling about the place and I knew it was right for me."

King captained the Histon side last season as they knocked Swindon and Leeds out of the FA Cup.

He added: "When I looked around the training ground and the stadium and meeting the people at the club that sold it to me. They are my kind of people and coming up to Crewe was the best feeling I had. It just felt right.

"I am also well aware of Crewe's reputation for developing players, and all the work Dario Gradi has done for the club and that was another big selling factor for me."

Mitchel-King, can play in the centre of midfield or defence, he made 163 appearances for Histon in his three-and-a-half years after moving from Mildenhall Town.
