Thordarson eyes long-term loans

Gudjon Thordarson
Thordarson is ready to use the loan market to boost his squad.

Crewe boss Gudjon Thordarson says he has held preliminary talks about long-term loan deals for players from two Premier League and Championship clubs.

He told BBC Radio Stoke: "If I can pull the deals off, it's good for everyone as we can develop their players.

"If a player is coming here for the long term, he's able to settle for the season and maximise his effort.

"Some of the players I'm talking about will move on to bigger and better things if everything goes right."

Thordarson is also finalising his pre-season games and has added Birmingham City and Wolves to the schedule.

The Alex have already confirmed they will play Steve Bruce's Wigan Athletic side on Thursday, 16 July.
