Crewe Alexandra boss Gudjon Thordarson says being a League Two club next season is hampering his attempts to sign new players.
The Alex have allowed 10 players to leave Gresty Road following their relegation from League One.
Thordarson told BBC Radio Stoke: "It's a problem as the players I want don't want to play in this division."
Crewe will be playing in the lowest tier of the Football League for the first time since 1994.
Thordarson has targeted a couple of experienced central defenders and a central midfielder to help his side bounce back from relegation next season.

"I would like to add some experience to the squad," he added.
"Even if we can add one or two defenders and a central midfield player that doesn't mean it is the end of the changes.
"There could be more, but I have to make sure the signings are right."
