Crewe manager Gudjon Thordarson admitted his team need a miracle to avoid relegation after a 4-3 defeat at Stockport on Friday.
The Alex are relying on other teams slipping up, and must beat the champions Leicester on the final day of the season to beat the drop.
"The Almighty is the only one who can get us out of this," Thordarson told BBC Radio Stoke.
"I'll speak to him and will see what he comes up with to save us."
He added: "We need all the help and all the luck that is required in this game if we are to get away with this."
Crewe's defenders were at fault for all four of Stockport's goals at Edgeley Park, and Thordarson said his team cannot expect to win matches if they defend so poorly.
"The goals we conceded were very poor, absolutely shocking," said the Crewe boss.
"I thought we had got rid of that sort of defending, and I thought we had recognised that we couldn't make those mistakes. But basically we just gave it away."
