Crewe Alexandra full-back Alan Sheehan wants to use his loan spell to prove some of his doubters wrong.
The 22-year-old made his debut in Tuesday's 2-2 draw with MK Dons after joining on loan from Leeds United.
He told BBC Radio Stoke: "This is a great chance for me and I'm very excited. I still feel I've got a lot to prove to the manager and to myself.
"And I have a lot to prove to a lot of people who are not at this club who may doubt me."
Former Republic of Ireland under- 21 international Sheehan replaced the suspended Billy Jones in the Crewe side against the Dons.
He made 21 League starts for Leeds having joined them from Leicester City last summer and scored against Crewe in the Whites' 5-2 win at Elland Road in September.
But he fell out of favour under new boss Simon Grayson and had not started a game since Leeds' 2-0 home defeat by Carlisle in January before joining Crewe.
Meanwhile, assistant manager Neil Baker says the players have shown a tremendous spirit in their battle against relegation.
The Alex were seven points adrift at the bottom of the League One table at one stage but are now four points clear of the bottom four.
Baker told BBC Radio Stoke: "The players have been shown a real togetherness and I think that will get us out of trouble."
