Steve Holland was removed after just 17 months in charge

Crewe Alexandra's board of directors will meet on Thursday evening to discuss a successor to Steve Holland as boss, reports BBC Radio Stoke.

Holland was relieved of his duties in November, with former manager Dario Gradi being placed in temporary charge at the Alexandra Stadium.

Former England midfielder David Platt last week turned down the chance to take over as manager at the Alex.

Crewe currently lie bottom of League One with nine points from 19 games.
