Crawley Town have sold 18-year-old striker Danny Mills to Championship side Peterborough United for an undisclosed fee.
Mills was recalled from a spell of training at Scottish side Rangers after the offer was received.
"It's good business for Crawley Town," 46-year-old Reds boss Steve Evans told BBC Sussex.
"More importantly it's good business for a man we think highly of. We wish him every success."
The fee, believed to be worth six figures, will not be used to bring in new players.
Evans explained: "The simple answer is none of it will go towards the playing budget.
"As we all know Crawley Town, similarly to all clubs has been hit by the demise of Setanta which has come as a real body blow.
"This is the start of a young man's career and that's the concentration today. We wish him every success."

"At a meeting last night with the main directors it was echoed that none of it would come my way but it's not always about getting funds for transfers or funds for players, sometimes you have to send a young man on his way.
"This is the start of a young man's career and that's the concentration today. We wish him every success."
Evans also hinted that Mills is not the only young player in his ranks to attract the interest of other clubs.
"Danny Mills is not the first, we have significant interest in one of the other players.
"There could be some more movement but that the movement that our fans will want to hear about today is Danny Mills joining Peterborough United in the Championship."
Posh boss Darren Ferguson told the official club website: "Danny is one for the future, and he is a good size."
