Simpson backs Morrison to bag 20

Clinton Morrison has hit eight goals in Coventry City's last 14 games

Coventry City striker Robbie Simpson is backing team-mate Clinton Morrison to score 20 goals by the season's end - for only the second time in his career.

Morrison's 10th goal of the campaign, bolstered by Simpson's late strike, set the Sky Blues on course for Sunday's 2-0 home win over Sheffield Wednesday.

Simpson said: "He's a proven scorer and will get 20 goals wherever he goes."

"He is someone I love to play with and learn from," Simpson told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire.

Morrison, who hit 16 goals in Crystal Palace's ultimately failed push for promotion last season, has a decent career record, having hit 138 goals in 441 games (87 of them as a sub) for his three clubs. And the 29-year-old Republic of Ireland international has hit nine in 36 appearances for his country.

But he has only ever hit every striker's 20-goal season's target once, when he hit 24 for Palace seven seasons ago.

After helping to put their home form right (Coventry had not won at the Ricoh in three months prior to Sunday), the Sky Blues are at home again this weekend, to Kidderminster Harriers in the third round of the FA Cup.
