Kieren Westwood has signed a three-year deal at the Ricoh
Coventry City keeper Keiren Westwood believes his move from Carlisle United will help both his international career and his Premier League aspirations.
The uncapped Westwood, who arrived at the Ricoh for an initial 500,000, was called into the Republic of Ireland squad for the first time in May.
Westwood told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire: "It was an absolute honour when I got called up.
"I was very shocked because at the time I was a League One player."
Westwood, who was picked by new Republic of Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni for his first squad, added: "I've just got to keep working hard.
"Coventry are a massive club with a fantastic manager, fantastic chairman and fantastic stadium.
"The club have a fantastic history. They were in the Prem and it would be nice if we could get back there."
