Watford forward Liam Henderson has joined Colchester United on loan until early January.
The 20-year-old has yet to make a Hornets start but has made 21 appearances from the bench.
U's boss John Ward told the club's website: "Liam's a young, hungry player, is six foot plus and will add great competition to the squad.
"He won't just provide competition centrally, he can operate in the wider positions as well."
Henderson, who will be available for Colchester's trip to Southampton on Saturday, has scored 29 times in 44 Watford reserve appearances.
"I feel it's time for him to go out and gain valuable experience at league level," said Hornets boss Malky Mackay.
"A similar situation proved very beneficial to Marvin Sordell last season."
