Colchester have received a double squad boost after Simon Hackney was recalled from his loan at Morecambe and Kevin Lisbie had a red card rescinded.
Boothroyd brought back midfielder Hackney, 26, due to a backlog of injuries, invoking a clause which allows a recall at 24-hours notice.
Striker Lisbie, 31, was dismissed against Charlton on Tuesday following a clash with Nicky Bailey.
But the Football Association has overturned the decision.
Both players will go straight into the squad for Saturday's game against Hartlepool.
Hackney had only recently extended his loan deal at the Shrimps until the end of the season.
He made eight appearances during his spell there and scored his first goal for the club against Rotherham.
Former Charlton player Lisbie is on currently on loan from Ipswich Town and is the club's top scorer with 12 goals in 39 appearances this season.
