Matt Lockwood is one of five players offered for loan by Colchester
Colchester manager Aidy Boothroyd has told five of his squad that they are free to go out loan.
Matt Lockwood, Alan Maybury, Scott Vernon, Sam Corcoran and Russell Malton will all be allowed to leave the Community Stadium on temporary deals.
"I'm happy for these players to go out and play games because that's what they need," Boothroyd told BBC Essex.
"I've informed clubs from Leagues One and Two and the Blue Square Premier of their availability."
Boothroyd has been assessing the United squad since taking charge in September and has brought in John-Joe O'Toole, Kayode Odejayi and Danny Batth on loan deals.
Meanwhile, Jamie Guy and David Perkins have been loaned out to Port Vale and Chesterfield respectively.
The former Watford boss added: "The five players on the list are all great guys, but they need to get out and play some games.
