Batth signs Colchester loan deal

Colchester United

Colchester United have signed young Wolves defender Danny Batth on an initial one-month loan.

The 19-year-old centre-back comes in as cover for the injured trio of Pat Baldwin, Paul Reid and Lee Beevers.

Batth signed a professional contract with Wolves in the summer, but has yet to play for the Premier League side.

U's boss Aidy Boothroyd told BBC Essex: "He's very quick, he's athletic and he's a good one-on-one defender, he's everything you need in a centre-half,"

Batth is the U's second loan signing in as many days, following the emergency signing of Barnsley striker Kayode Odejayi on Wednesday.

"He enjoys defending and he'll bring good competition for places, because obviously we've only got Magnus [Okuonghae] and Matt Heath as our centre-halves," Boothroyd added.
