Colchester United have handed former Norwich City and Scotland midfielder Gary Holt a role as player-coach.
The 36-year-old has been with Wycombe Wanderers for the last two seasons and played for the U's against Heybridge Swifts in Thursday night's friendly.
In addition to his on-field duties, Holt will assist youth team coach Joe Dunne and work with the first team.
The former Kilmarnock, Norwich City and Nottingham Forest midfielder has been capped for Scotland 11 times.
