League One side Colchester United have appointed Tony Humes as head of youth at the Community Stadium.
The former Ipswich Town defender has spent nine years working in the youth department at Portman Road.
Humes, who also played for Wrexham, replaces Steve Downey, who left the U's earlier this year.
"It's an exciting challenge with a new group of staff who have a strong will to improve things," Humes told the club's website.
