Colchester United boss Paul Lambert has sympathy with the position of out-of-favour defender Chris Coyne.

A combination of international call-ups and injuries limited Coyne's opportunities when Lambert took over.

The Australian has been quoted in his homeland as saying it might be better for his career if he moved on.

"It's a big year for Chris with the World Cup and if he doesn't play here he'll want to elsewhere to get into the Australian squad," said Lambert.
