Colchester United defender Marc Tierney has insisted there will be no drop in effort for the remainder of the season.
Although the U's look set to finish mid-table in League One, Tierney believes professional pride will not allow them to ease into the summer.
He told BBC Essex: "I think we've set quite high standards since I've been here and I won't be dropping them.
"I will not expect or allow anyone else in the dressing room to drop their standards either."
U's manager Paul Lambert has made no secret of the fact that he will be making changes to the U's squad before the start of next season.
Full-back Tierney believes this is more than enough of a reason for the players to give their all until the final day of this campaign.
"We're all playing for our place in the team, whether it be for the end of this season or the start of next," he explained.
"I think we've let ourselves down of late, so we've got a lot of pride to play for and obviously to show the fans, the management and ourselves that we are top players and can do the business."
