Lambert has now set his sights on ending the U's home curse
Colchester United boss Paul Lambert said his side put in a "brilliant" display against Stockport on Saturday.
The U's 2-1 win saw the new manager get off to a perfect start and moved his side up to 18th in League One.
A delighted Lambert told BBC Essex: "[It was] a massive performance, I thought they were brilliant - the lads were really great, a big effort.
"They've had a bit of a hard time but it just shows you they've got it in their capabilities to do it."
The U's boss added: "It takes big players to come back from being beaten at times and having the knocks they've had but all credit to them they were terrific."
Lambert has turned his attentions to Colchester's next game against Millwall on Tuesday and the small matter of getting their first victory at the Community Stadium.
"I just want to win at home now," he said. "The confidence will be sky high and they'll be brimming to get going."
