Colchester manager Geraint Williams said Anthony Wordsworth has proved he has the attitude to make it in the professional ranks.

The 19-year-old midfielder signed a three-year contract earlier this week.

Williams told BBC Essex: "We sent Anthony away to work hard during the off season.

"He couldn't have done much more to impress in pre-season, so we thought it was right that he'd earned the opportunity to look at a new contract."
