Yeates scored eight goals in his first season with the U's

Colchester manager Geraint Williams expects Mark Yeates to still be with them when the transfer window closes.

The 23-year-old winger was on the verge of joining Crystal Palace over the summer but Williams told BBC Essex things have been quiet since.

"We want to get the ball down on the floor and get it out to him," he said.

"When he runs with the ball it is exciting and he's got the quality from set-pieces, so Mark is very much part of our plans."

Williams also confirmed they will not be making a bid for Bournemouth striker Jo Kuffour.

"Obviously we're always looking for players and Jo's done very well at Bournemouth," he said.

"I believe that he's probably going to be moving on from there, but it won't be to us."
