Chesterfield manager John Sheridan is considering making an approach for Manchester City winger Donal McDermott.
The 20-year-old had a successful loan spell with the Spireites last season before finishing the campaign on loan to Scunthorpe United.
"Everybody knows how much I rate Donal as a player and a person," Sheridan told BBC Radio Sheffield.
"I haven't yet made an enquiry for him but he is the sort of player I would be interested in," he added.
But Sheridan has ruled out a possible move for former Barnsley and Sheffield United defender Rob Kozluk.
