Chesterfield manager Lee Richardson expects Jack Lester to be fit for the Wycombe Wanderers game on 30 August.
The club's top scorer, 32, suffered a thigh strain during the warm-up before the 3-1 defeat by Bury on Saturday and came off after 16 minutes of the game.
It had been feared that the 32-year-old would have been out for several weeks.
Richardson told BBC Radio Sheffield: "It was the kind of injury that you can get by. On a scan it's only showed up a slight strain and not a tear."
