Liverpool-based property developer Gary Metcalf remains confident of completing a deal to takeover Chester City within the next few days.
Last Friday, Metcalf said "minor details" were all that stood between himself and a takeover.
BBC Radio Merseyside understands Metcalf is still in negotiations to buy-out current majority shareholder and former chairman Stephen Vaughan.
The struggling League Two outfit face Bradford City at the Deva on Saturday.
The transfer window for loaning players came and passed on Thursday without any additions to Chester's wafer-thin squad.
Speaking to BBC Radio Merseyside before the transfer window closed, Metcalf was confident of completing a takeover of City and outlined his priorities for the club.
"There's a few minor details to be clarified and I'm confident that'll be sorted out by next week," he said.
"My number one aim is to keep the club in the Football League and, two, to rebuild the ground and give the club a stadium worthy of the people of Chester."
Metcalf has been involved with City over plans for a multi-million pound upgrade of the Deva Stadium.
His company, Property First Asset Management Ltd, first revealed their intentions to redevelop the struggling League Two side in September.
City's immediate priority must be to improve their League form.
Last week's 1-1 draw at Bury coupled with Grimsby's 3-0 win against Gillingham has seen them slip into the League Two relegation zone.
