Murphy left Blackpool in January to join Macclesfield |
Chester City have re-signed their former striker John Murphy on a free transfer from Macclesfield, reports BBC Radio Merseyside. The 30-year-old began his career at Chester, scoring 21 league and cup goals in 119 senior appearances.
Murphy joined Blackpool in 1999 and spent nearly eight years there before joining Macc in January, but rejected the Silkmen's offer of a new deal.
He has now signed a two-year contract at the Deva Stadium.
Boss Bobby Williamson has already signed Nathan Lowndes, Richie Partridge and Kevin Ellison this summer.
The squad will reassemble for pre-season training next Thursday.
