Martin Riley nears comeback for Cheltenham after injury

Cheltenham defender Martin Riley has returned for the reserve side after nine weeks out with a hamstring injury.

The 21-year-old, who faced West Brom reserves, could return for the League Two trip to Accrington on Saturday after Steve Elliott's calf strain.

"It's what he needed, he was tested by an energetic, decent Albion side," boss Mark Yates told BBC Gloucestershire.

"It was always the plan for an hour, he iced himself down afterwards and we'll see where we are for the weekend."

Cheltenham's reserves lost the friendly 2-0, with the game played behind closed doors at Whaddon Road.
