Strokosch was injured while playing for Gloucester on Saturday

Alasdair Strokosch has been ruled out of Scotland's squad for next month's autumn Tests against New Zealand, South Africa and Samoa.

The 27-year-old Gloucester flanker is expected to be sidelined for six weeks after damaging knee ligaments in the Aviva Premiership against Harlequins.

Scotland head coach Andy Robinson said: "We may yet draft another player into the squad for our training camp.

"And we'll discuss that after the matches this weekend."

Strokosch, who won his 17th cap on the Scots' summer tour of Argentina, picked up his injury in the closing stages of Gloucester's 33-26 win.

He was due to join up with his international colleagues in St Andrews next week and Robinson wished the player a "speedy recovery".

Scotland play New Zealand on 13 November and South Africa on 20 November at Murrayfield and conclude their autumn Tests against Samoa on 27 November at Pittodrie.

Robinson had already been unable to name several first-team regulars in his 34-man squad because of injury problems.

Lock Alastair Kellock could recover in time to face Samoa in the final game.

However, forward Johnnie Beattie and backs Chris Cusiter, Nick de Luca, Phil Godman and Simon Danielli will all be unavailable for all three matches.
