Schofield unfazed by Cheltenham job rumours
Cheltenham Town caretaker boss John Schofield says he is ignoring media speculation surrounding the manager's job at Whaddon Road.
The 44-year-old has been in temporary charge since October after Martin Allen was placed on gardening leave before leaving the club by mutual consent.
He told BBC Radio Gloucestershire: "The board of directors will appoint the best man they see fit for the job.
"My job is to prepare the team. I've said before what will be, will be."
Former Robins boss Steve Cotterill has turned down the chance to return to the club for a second spell, while Cheltenham have been given permission to talk to Kidderminster Harriers manager Mark Yates.
Despite the rumours surrounding his future at the club, Schofield says it is important he focuses on the job in hand.
"We've got to start getting points sooner rather than later,"

"I'm doing my job at the minute. I'm contracted to the football club and at this point in time I'm caretaker manager," he said.
"If the club see that I'm the man to take them forward then I'll get the job. If they think there's someone better out there to do it then they'll appoint him."
Cheltenham have taken just five points from their last six games and are languishing near the bottom of League Two, four points above the relegation zone.
Schofield says that keeping the club out of danger is his priority and hopes that a busy Christmas period will be a chance for them to go on a winning run.
"If we get a victory now then we're straight into another game. If we get a defeat, we've not got a lot of time to think about it," he added.
"We've got to start getting points sooner rather than later, to ease ourselves out of the predicament we're in at the moment".
