Kidderminster allow Mark Yates to talk to Cheltenham
Yates had five-year playing spells at Kidderminster and Cheltenham
Kidderminster Harriers manager Mark Yates has been given permission to speak to former club Cheltenham Town about their vacant managerial role.
The 39-year-old has been Harriers boss since 2006 and is a candidate to be Martin Allen's successor at Town.
Harriers chairman Barry Norgrove told the club website: "I've been approached by Cheltenham Town and Mark would like the opportunity to speak with them.
"He wants to see what they have to say so we have given him permission."
Yates made 227 appearances for Cheltenham over five years, sandwiched between two playing spells at Aggborough.
This does not necessarily make him the front-runner as we will be meeting to consider all the candidates within the next few days

In his second season in charge of Kidderminster he took them to an FA Trophy final and guided the club to a top-half finish in the Blue Square Premier.
Last season Harriers missed out on a play-off place after they were beaten at home by Kettering Town on the final day of the regular season.
Robins chairman Paul Baker told their official website: "This does not necessarily make him the front-runner as we will be meeting to consider all the candidates within the next few days."
Cheltenham parted company with Allen by mutual consent earlier this month - after almost two months on gardening leave following an alleged racist incident with a nightclub bouncer.
He was formally cleared of racial misconduct, but left the League Two strugglers.
