Arsenal take Edge on second trial

Cheltenham Town teenager Jamie Edge is having a second trial at Arsenal.

The 15-year-old midfielder has previously played for the Gunners' under-16 side against Portsmouth and spent three days at Manchester United.

And he is now set to feature for Arsenal in a seven-team tournament in Italy against sides from AC Milan, Inter Milan, Juventus and Real Madrid.

Edge played for the club's Under-16s at the age of 13 and this season he has figured in games for Town's reserves.

Manager Martin Allen was set to include him in the first-team squad against Oldham in March only to find Edge, who can also play in central defence, did not meet Football League age restrictions.

"Physically he's big for his age and is quite advanced in his development," Cheltenham's centre of excellence manager Ken Oram told the club website.
