Charlton Athletic have been forced to place a number of staff at risk of redundancy in the wake of their defeat by Swindon in the League One play-offs.
Addicks managing director Stephen Kavanagh admits it will be a testing time for the club.
Kavanagh told the club's website: "As a consequence of the team not regaining Championship status, we have to plan for life in League One.
"This has necessitated cuts in operating costs across the whole club."
He added: "Every department's budget is being scrutinised, and these affect both football and non-football staff."
A period of formal consultation will now take place to work out alternative ways to hit the required budgets.
