Matt Holland is determined next season will end in promotion for Charlton.

The midfielder was disappointed with last season's eleventh-placed finish but signed a new one-year deal because he thinks the Addicks can go up.

The 34-year-old said: "I wouldn't have signed a new deal if I didn't believe we could challenge for promotion.

"The season we had wasn't good enough and that's all that really counts. But I know everyone will be striving to do a lot better next season."

Holland added: "I'm already looking forward to the start of the season because it will give us a chance to put last season behind us."
