Manager Alan Pardew has vowed to prepare the team for next season because he says things have to change.
The Addicks boss said: "We're looking at a few things already, it's a time for reflection at the moment.
"We're probably going to come in midway through the summer to make sure we hit the ground running next year."
Charlton were in contention for a place in the play-offs for most of the season but missed their chance and now sit in twelfth place with a game remaining.

"We need to work out why this happened this season, and make sure it doesn't happen again," Pardew added.
The Addicks boss stressed the importance of preparing the team ahead of the opening match of the new season.
"Nothing is sorted at the moment, but we will go abroad, because just the travelling, getting on planes and spending time away from families in each other's pockets and so on, helps build team spirit."
Charlton could play Bexley neighbours Welling United, Chris Dickson's old club Dulwich Hamlet and French outfit Nancy in pre-season friendlies.
"We'll arrange a number of games against the local non-league sides, and Nancy could be the last game, on the last Saturday before the start of the season," added Pardew.
Meanwhile, Charlton have handed a new two-year contract to 19-year-old defender Grant Basey.
Basey, a product of the Addicks' youth academy, has played eight times for Charlton this season after a successful loan spell at Brentford.
