Gibbs has not played a first-team game for Charlton |
Charlton's American defender Cory Gibbs will miss the rest of the season after having another operation on his knee. The 26-year-old has not played a first-team game for the Addicks since joining from Feyenoord in June 2006.
He suffered ligament damage on the eve of last summer's World Cup and his only action since then has been a brief return for the reserves in November.
Wayne Diesel, head of Charlton's medical department, said: "We are not going to rush things."
Diesel added: "The latest operation took place on 3 January and Cory has now started his early rehabilitation in the US and feels a lot happier about his knee.
"He is currently still in the US being assessed as the swelling goes down after the operation and we hope to have him back at the club at the end of January to pick up his progress."
