Charlton have signed United States defender Cory Gibbs on a free transfer from Feyenoord - subject to the 26-year-old obtaining a work permit. Gibbs has joined the Addicks on a pre-contract basis.
Gibbs who said that he had also received interest from Bolton and Middlesbrough said: "Playing in the Premiership has always been my dream.
"I was impressed with chairman Richard Murray and his ambitious plans for the continued development of the club."
Gibbs, who has made four international appearances, added: "In the past week I've received interest from Middlesbrough, Bolton, Reading and Charlton.
"But I honestly believe I am joining a club that is ambitious and hungry for success."
