Carlisle part company with striker Richard Offiong
Offiong started his career at Newcastle
League One side Carlisle United have parted company with striker Richard Offiong by mutual consent.
Offiong, 26, joined the Cumbrians from Scottish Premier League side Hamilton Academical for £75,000 in August 2009, but scored just once in 19 appearances.
"Richard and I are disappointed with the way things have gone," boss Greg Abbott told the club website.
"So we sat down today and had a good chat and he is now able to move on with our very best wishes."
Having started his career with Newcastle United, the South Shields-born forward spent time on loan at Darlington, Motherwell and York before moving to Doncaster Rovers on a free transfer in July 2005.
He moved on to Hamilton a year later where he proved a success, scoring 42 goals in 105 appearances before his switch to Brunton Park.
