Carlisle United striker Richard Offiong ends loan spell

Carlisle United striker Richard Offiong has ended his loan spell at Swedish third division side Ostersunds FK after rupturing a thigh tendon.

Offiong, 26, was given a scan on Monday and the results showed that although surgery would not be needed, the injury was serious enough to curtail the loan.

"We would expect him to be out for approximately 12 weeks," physio Paul Dalton told the club website.

"He will be assessed regularly as he goes through rehabilitation."

The former Newcastle United trainee joined the Cumbrians from Scottish Premier League side Hamilton in August 2009 for a fee of £75,000.

However, the striker failed to settle at Brunton Park, scoring once in 19 appearances before his Scandinavian loan switch.
