Eastham made 20 appearances for Cheltenham Town last season

Carlisle United have signed defender Ashley Eastham on loan from Blackpool until 3 January.

The 19-year-old has made two first-team appearances for his parent club in addition to a loan spell at League Two side Cheltenham Town last season.

"Ashley is another that we have watched and heard good things about," Carlisle boss Greg Abbott told the club website.

"He enjoyed playing first-team football last season and he comes here ready to show everyone what he can do."

Abbott added: "As we said before, we need cover in our defensive areas at the moment and he will provide that, as well as adding to the competition for a starting place.

"We think we've got ourselves another good signing and we are looking forward to working with him."

Eastham's arrival follows that of Guadeloupe international Miguel Comminges from Cardiff City on Wednesday.
