Adam Collin proud of Carlisle United penalty hero tag

Carlisle goalkeeper Adam Collin was delighted after his penalty shoot-out heroics saw off Port Vale in Tuesday's Johnstone's Paint Trophy tie.

Collin denied Vale's Louis Dodds and Tommy Fraser to secure a place in the Northern section quarter-finals for last season's losing finalists.

"It's the third time now, obviously it's something I'm decent at," Collin told BBC Radio Cumbria.

"It summed up the whole night, going behind and coming back."

Collin had previously been the shoot-out hero for United against both Morecambe and Leeds United in last season's JPT run.

Meanwhile the Cumbrians had to bounce back from 2-0 down on the night against Vale to trigger penalties, with goals from James Chester and Jason Price cancelling out an earlier Oliver Norwood own-goal and header from Marc Richards.

"It's always difficult if you go 2-0 down in the second half, but the strength of our bench and the players we could bring on, we always stood a chance of coming back," Collin said.

"It sums up our team at the minute, we're a strong bunch of lads, we're a strong unit.

"We work hard until the last minute, and with the spirit in the team, we always stand a chance."

Carlisle United signed Collin from Cumbrian rivals Workington in July 2009, and the player has established himself as the first choice goalkeeper with 48 appearances.
